What Coal Collects
Depending on how a customer configures Coal, the service may process:
- Account and access data: user identity, organization membership, authentication state, and operational logs needed to secure private customer dashboards.
- Customer configuration: project names, Steam app IDs, product settings, source URLs, connected accounts, integration status, and onboarding information.
- Wishlist and store performance data: Steam wishlist reporting, Steam store traffic, UTM campaign data, regions, and related metrics imported or connected by the customer.
- Marketing and action data: campaigns, launch beats, annotations, ad metadata, spend, clicks, creative references, and other activity customers choose to track.
- Social and Radar data: public posts, videos, mentions, engagement counts, URLs, timestamps, creator or account names, and search results from connected or monitored sources.
- Integration credentials: OAuth tokens, API keys, or session material only where required to operate customer-authorized integrations.
- Technical data: IP addresses, request metadata, device/browser information, cookies, logs, and error information used for security, reliability, and support.
Why Coal Uses Data
Coal uses data to provide the product, connect marketing actions to wishlist outcomes, maintain customer dashboards, run imports and sync jobs, monitor social or web signals at the customer's direction, debug issues, secure the service, and comply with legal obligations.
Customer Data
Customer data belongs to the customer or their organization. Coal uses customer data to provide the service and does not sell it. Coal may aggregate or de-identify operational information to understand product reliability and improve the service, but private customer datasets are not made public.
Third-Party Integrations
Customers may connect third-party platforms such as Steam or Valve partner tools, TikTok, Reddit, YouTube/Google, Instagram, Facebook/Meta, X, advertising APIs, or search providers. Coal accesses those services only when configured or authorized by the customer. Third-party platforms process data under their own terms and privacy policies, and customers are responsible for having the rights needed to connect accounts or import data.
Cookies and Local Storage
Coal may use cookies for authentication, OAuth security, session continuity, and account protection. The application may also use browser storage for preferences such as visual theme or interface state.
Sharing
Coal may share data with infrastructure, database, authentication, monitoring, support, and hosting providers that help operate the service. Coal may also disclose information if required by law, to protect the service, or as part of a corporate transaction. We do not sell personal information.
Security
Coal uses reasonable technical and organizational measures designed to protect customer data, including access controls, HTTPS in hosted environments, secret handling, and separation of private customer dashboards from the public website. No system is perfectly secure, and customers should protect their own credentials and connected accounts.
Retention
Coal keeps data for as long as needed to provide the service, meet customer instructions, resolve disputes, maintain security, or comply with legal requirements. Customers may request deletion or disconnection of integrations by contacting us.
Your Rights
Depending on your location, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, restrict, export, or object to certain processing of personal data. To make a request, contact hey@northplay.co.
Children
Coal is a business software service for studios and publishers. It is not directed to children under 16.
